We cooked this burger live on Instagram for #NursesInTheKitchen! We highly recommend you to try this great recipe for a perfect dinnertime treat!
What you need:
This amount will make 3 burgers:
  • 400g of beef mince ( 15% fat if possbile)
  • 3 sun-dried tomatoes (finely chopped)
  • 1 clove of garlic (finely chopped)
  • Parsley (finely chopped)
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 brioche buns
  • 1 baby gem lettuce
  • 1 white onion
  • 1 sweet red pepper
  • Any sauce that you like (we used BBQ for our burgers)
  • Any cheese that you have available (we used blue cheese)
If you don't want to cook all three burgers, you can always save the beef patties in your freezer or in the fridge for up to 3 days.

The cooking process:
  • First of all, separate the baby gem leaves, wash well in cold water and leave them on the side.
  • Chop the red pepper into long stripes, remove the seeds and the white bits from the inside!
  • Chop the onion by first cutting off the two ends and peeling off the skin. Carefully chop the onion into discs (see the picture above). Chop each slice about half a cm thick.
  • At this point, bring a pan to a medium-low heat and add a glug of olive oil. Fry all the slices of peppers and the onions discs gently (be careful, we want to try to keep the discs intact). Stir occasionally, keeping the heat on a medium/medium-low.
  • Now is the time to marinade the beef. In a bowl add the minced beef together with a pinch of salt & pepper and the egg yolk. Finely chop parsley (about 2 tablespoons), garlic and the sun-dried tomato. Add the last 3 ingredients to the mince beef. Mix well all together and make 3 equal balls of meat.
  • Cut the burger buns and toast them in a clean pan on a medium-high heat. Toast the top and bottom part of the bun. Set on the side.
  • In the same pan add a little touch of oil and start frying the meat balls (we suggest cooking a maximum of 2 at time if you are using a small pan). Leave the burger patties frying for 30 seconds then with a masher, slowly press down each ball of meat to create your burger shape. Fry them for around 4 to 5 minutes each side for a medium cooked burger.
  • Only once the burger is almost cooked, add a slice of the cheese that you are using to the top of each burger. Cover with a lid and let it melt for 1 minute. Meanwhile start building the "Quarantine Burger"!!
  • Spread the sauce on the bottom part of the bun, then place the clean lettuce and caramelized red pepper on top. Once the burger is perfectly cooked (at least medium - no pink) and the cheese has melted, place the burger on top. Add the onion discs on top of the patty and spread some more BBQ sauce (or any other sauce you have available) on the top part of the burger bun.  Add the top of the bun to your burger and you're done!

         Enjoy!
